Cars in the Park 2017

21st May 2017 – Ashburton Pietermaritzburg


The 2017 Vintage Sports Car Club “Cars in the Park” was again a great success, on a beautiful sunny day, at the Gold Circle Training Centre in Ashburton, Pietermaritzburg.


This premier car show in KZN is very well supported by vehicle enthusiast from all over South Africa. Clubs from far and wide travel long distances to attend this fantastic car show. The vehicles on display ranged from 1904 vintage, veteran, classics to current 2017 super cars, as well as bikes of all shapes and sizes.


Vehicles on display included Peugeots, VWs, Mercedes, Porsches, BMWs, Bentleys, Rolls-Royce, Citroens, Jaguars, Land Rovers, Chevrolets, Audis, Lotus, Cobras, Ferraris, Porsches, and many other makes, as well as modified and special vehicles.


A special event display of pre-1930 display vehicles was a highlight of this year’s show.

A super car parade was most intriguing, with some fantastic vehicles on display.

A 4 x 4 track, with spectator rides was amazing and a large amount of money was raised for a young cancer sufferer, who attended the show.

The Caledonian band gave an amazing display of their talents.


There were +- 1 500 exhibitor’s displaying their cars, bikes and machines, and a total of +- 12 000 spectators attended the event.


The +- 90 vendor’s stalls made up of +- 32 food vendors and +- 48 craft traders business traders had a good day, and the charities that are supported by the Vintage Sports Car Club will benefit greatly. With the huge variety of food no-one went hungry. Due to the warm weather the beer garden and ice cream sales did exceptionally well. The craft markets were a great attraction for the ladies, and the free kid’s entertainment area kept the youngsters very busy.


Being a Family Fun Day, with all the vehicles, the beer garden, live band, kids play area, craft markets and special car display all helped to attract many spectators, and make this a must attend event on the annual motoring calendar.


The floating trophy for the best overall stand went to Hennie & Friends for their amazing display of vehicles.


The trophy for the best individual display went to Grenville Manton with his Dart display.
